Application of 1145 H19 O Aluminum Foil

1145 aluminum foil is a common aluminum alloy material, belonging to the aluminum-manganese alloy series, with good ductility, formability and corrosion resistance. Its tempers include O, H14, H19, etc., among which H19 and O are the most common.

  1. Analysis of 1145 aluminum alloy and state code

(1). 1145 aluminum alloy

Belongs to 1000 series pure aluminum (Al content ≥ 99.45%), with high purity, excellent corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, as well as good plasticity and processability, no heat treatment strengthening effect, mainly through cold working hardening or annealing to adjust the performance.

(2). Meaning of temper code

– H19:

“H” represents the work hardening state, “1” represents only cold working hardening (no annealing), “9” represents extremely high hardening degree (superhard state), strength and hardness are significantly improved, but plasticity is reduced.

– O:

Indicates the annealed state, the material is completely softened, the plasticity is the best, the hardness is the lowest, and it is suitable for processing that requires high formability.

  1. Application of 1145 H19 aluminum foil (high hardness, high strength state)

(1). Industrial packaging and protection

– Rigid packaging materials: used to make packaging containers that require stiffness and extrusion resistance (such as hard box linings, industrial product moisture-proof packaging), using the high strength of the H19 state to resist external impact and protect internal items.

– Wear-resistant coating: For example, the shielding coating of the outer layer of the cable requires both the conductivity and electromagnetic interference resistance of aluminum and the hardness of H19 to prevent wear.

(2). Structural components

– Electronic equipment heat sink: Using the high thermal conductivity of pure aluminum and the strength of H19, small heat sinks can be made, which can be directly fixed on electronic components, and have both heat dissipation and support functions.

– Mechanical parts gaskets: such as sealing gaskets in automobiles or machinery, which require a certain strength and corrosion resistance, and the H19 state can meet the anti-deformation requirements.

(3). Decoration and identification

– Metal labels or nameplates: H19 aluminum foil has high hardness and is not easy to scratch. It can be stamped or printed into identification plates for outdoor equipment, product nameplates, etc. It has good weather resistance and wear resistance.

  1. Application of 1145 O aluminum foil (annealed softened state)

(1). Food and pharmaceutical packaging

– Foil packaging: Due to its corrosion resistance and non-toxicity, the softness of the O state makes it suitable for wrapping, folding or heat sealing. It is often used for moisture-proof packaging of chocolate, candy, and medicine (such as aluminum foil bags, tablet packaging), and can also be used for baking paper (using the uniformity of aluminum thermal conductivity).

– Composite material lamination: As a composite layer of plastic or paper packaging, it improves barrier properties (anti-oxidation, moisture-proof), and the ductility of the O state ensures that it is not easy to crack during composite processing.

(2). Electronic and electrical fields

– Cable insulation coating: The soft O state aluminum foil can be tightly wrapped around the cable core as a shielding layer to resist electromagnetic interference and facilitate construction and bending.

– Flexible circuit board (FPC) auxiliary materials: used for temporary support or heat dissipation layer, using the conductivity of pure aluminum and the flexibility of O state to adapt to the folding requirements of flexible circuits.

(3). Heat exchange and thermal insulation materials

– Heat sink substrate: Although the strength of O state is low, it can be stamped into a heat sink of complex shape (such as computer CPU heat sink), using high thermal conductivity to quickly conduct heat, and the lack of strength can be compensated by structural design in subsequent processing.

– Thermal insulation material coating: such as the outer layer of aluminum foil of building insulation cotton, the ductility of O state enables it to fit tightly to the insulation layer, while reflecting heat and improving the insulation effect.

(4). Art and crafts

– Aluminum foil art creation: The softness of O state makes it easy to cut and fold, and can be used for handmade, decorative materials (such as holiday ornaments, model making), or as a base material for painting and carving.

  1.  Common application advantages of 1145 aluminum foil

– Corrosion resistance: Pure aluminum is easy to form a dense oxide film in the atmosphere, suitable for contact with food, medicine or humid environment.

– High purity characteristics: no risk of alloy element precipitation, in line with food contact material standards (such as FDA, LFGB).

– Cost advantage: 1 series pure aluminum is cheaper than alloy aluminum, suitable for scenarios that do not require high strength but need to be used in large areas (such as packaging, general industrial materials).

1145 H19 aluminum foil is suitable for industrial scenarios that require strength and wear resistance due to its high hardness, while 1145 O aluminum foil is known for its softness and formability and is widely used in packaging, electronics and thermal management. In practical applications, it is necessary to select the appropriate state according to specific working conditions (such as strength, corrosion resistance, and processing requirements) to give full play to the performance advantages of 1000 series pure aluminum.
