A/C Aluminum Foil Specification

A/c aluminum foil is an aluminum foil material specially designed for heat exchanger fins (also called heat sinks) in air conditioners and refrigeration systems. Its main function is to enhance heat exchange efficiency and help air conditioning systems to exchange heat more efficiently.

Common alloy types and characteristics of a/c aluminum foil are as follows:

– 1xxx Series pure aluminum: 1050, 1060, 1070

High purity (≥99.0%), excellent thermal conductivity, good corrosion resistance, excellent processing performance, but low strength. Suitable for ordinary air conditioner fins with low strength requirements, especially non-coated aluminum foil.

– 3xxx Series aluminum-manganese alloy: 3003, 3102, 3105

Adding manganese (about 1.0%), the strength is slightly higher than pure aluminum, the corrosion resistance and processing performance are good, and the thermal conductivity is close to pure aluminum. Suitable for coated aluminum foil that requires a certain strength (such as hydrophilic and corrosion-resistant aluminum foil) to improve the deformation resistance of the fins.

– 8xxx series aluminum-lithium alloy: 8011, 8079

Adding lithium element, the density is lower, the strength is moderate, while maintaining good thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance. It is used for high-end air-conditioning fins with high lightweight requirements to reduce the weight of the whole machine.

The temper of aluminum foil (i.e., the degree of work hardening and heat treatment state) directly affects its performance. Common tempers include:

  1. O (annealing state)

– Features: After complete annealing, the aluminum foil has low hardness, good plasticity, and excellent flexibility, which is convenient for stamping and bending.

– Application: The substrate of non-coated aluminum foil and most coated aluminum foil (such as hydrophilic aluminum foil and mildew-proof aluminum foil), suitable for fins that require complex forming processes.

  1. H14, H16 (work hardening state)

– Features: Improve strength and hardness through cold working, but the plasticity is slightly reduced, and the surface flatness and dimensional stability are better.

– Application: Some fins that require deformation resistance (such as fins in large air conditioners or vibration environments), or coated aluminum foils that have certain strength requirements (such as corrosion-resistant aluminum foil).

The thickness of the aluminum foil for air conditioner is usually adjusted according to the density, heat exchange efficiency and processing technology of the fins. The common range is:

Conventional thickness: 0.07-0.20 mm.

Segmented scenarios:

– Household air conditioner fins: The thickness is mostly 0.09-0.15 mm, taking into account both heat exchange efficiency and cost.

– Commercial or industrial air conditioner fins: The thickness can reach 0.15-0.20 mm, improving structural strength and adapting to higher wind pressure environments.

– Ultra-thin fins (high-end models): The thickness can be as low as 0.07-0.09 mm, increasing the number of fins per unit area and improving heat exchange efficiency, but requiring higher processing technology.

Features of a/c aluminium foil:

– Excellent thermal conductivity:

Aluminum is a good thermal conductive material that can efficiently transfer heat, thereby improving the heat exchange efficiency of the air conditioning system.

– Lightweight:

The aluminum foil material is light in weight, easy to design and install, and reduces the burden on the overall equipment.

– Corrosion resistance:

Aluminum foil has certain corrosion resistance, is suitable for use in humid environments, and can extend the service life of air conditioning equipment.

– Plasticity:

Aluminum foil is easy to process and can be formed and processed according to different design requirements to adapt to various heat exchanger structures.

– Good surface treatment:

Aluminum foil can be surface treated by anodizing to improve its corrosion resistance and aesthetics.

Application of a/c aluminum foil:

– Air conditioning heat exchanger:

Used to manufacture fins of evaporators and condensers of air conditioners to enhance heat exchange effect.

– Refrigeration equipment:

In refrigeration systems, aluminum foil fins can be used in condensers and evaporators to improve refrigeration efficiency.

– Heat pump system:

In heat pump systems, aluminum foil fins are also commonly used in heat exchangers to improve the thermal efficiency of the system.
