1060 O Aluminium Foil For Cable Shield

Electromagnetic interference has always been a significant hidden danger to the stable operation of communication cables, industrial control cables, and low-voltage power distribution cables. Aluminum foil shielding layers, relying on their excellent conductivity and covering properties, have become a core supporting material for isolating external noise and eliminating crosstalk between conductor signals. Among various types of cable shielding aluminum foil, 1060-O high-purity aluminum foil has long held a mainstream position in cable shielding substrates due to its purity advantage, excellent flexibility, and stable shielding effectiveness.

Haomei Aluminum specializes in high-purity aluminum foil rolling and export processing, and mass-produces standardized 1060-O cable shielding aluminum foil using mature smelting and annealing processes. 1060 aluminum is defined as having an aluminum content ≥99.60%, a commonly used high-purity aluminum grade in industry. The “O” state represents a fully softened annealed state, which is also the preferred processing state for cable shielding aluminum foil. The production process strictly controls the proportions of impurity elements such as silicon and iron, and precisely manages trace amounts of harmful components within national standard limits. The high-purity substrate provides excellent conductivity, with a uniform and stable conductivity coefficient, fundamentally preventing shielding blind spots caused by local impedance imbalances. Compared to 3000 series and 5000 series alloy aluminum foils, 1060 pure aluminum foil, without added magnesium and manganese alloys, has lower conductivity loss and effectively blocks both low-frequency power frequency interference and high-frequency radio frequency noise. It offers a wider shielding coverage band, adapting to the electromagnetic protection needs of various cable types.

The O-state full annealing process completely eliminates the internal stress of aluminum foil rolling, resulting in outstanding ductility and bending performance in the finished product, which is also key to its suitability for automated cable wrapping production. Commercially available cable shielding aluminum foil typically ranges in thickness from 0.06mm to 0.20mm and can be cut to widths from 20mm to 1300mm depending on the cable structure. 1060-O aluminum foil, when processed using high-speed longitudinal wrapping and coiling equipment, is resistant to cracking and pinholes even after repeated bending, allowing it to tightly adhere to the outer surface of the cable core and eliminating common manufacturing defects such as shielding edge lifting and magnetic leakage from gaps. Most cable manufacturers laminate a PET polyester film onto this substrate to create a coated aluminum foil. Leveraging the combined advantages of the film’s moisture-proof insulation and the aluminum layer’s conductive shielding, this extends the cable’s lifespan in humid conditions.

From a practical application perspective, the application scenarios for 1060-O aluminum foil are clearly defined.

In high-frequency communication fields, network cables and coaxial RF cables rely on high-purity aluminum foil to isolate external electromagnetic interference, ensuring undistorted data transmission.

In industrial settings, instrument control cables and frequency converter cables utilize aluminum foil shielding to avoid power frequency noise from frequency converters and motors.

In civilian flame-retardant low-voltage cables, aluminum foil is used to suppress crosstalk between multi-core conductors.

Specialized cables laid in some underground mines and wetlands also use 1060-O aluminum foil as the basic shielding layer, combined with a sheath to achieve all-dimensional protection.

Haomei Aluminum relies on end-to-end production control to maintain the thickness tolerance of finished cable aluminum foil within ±0.003mm. Each roll undergoes pinhole and surface flaw detection before leaving the factory. Customization of bare aluminum foil, single-sided film, double-sided film, and other forms is available upon request. With its balanced performance and cost advantages, 1060-O aluminum foil remains the most versatile and cost-effective high-purity aluminum substrate for cable shielding.
